Browser Compatibility
For the best experience using the Marquis Who’s Who web-based database, we recommend the following browsers versions:
- Internet Explorer 5, 5.5 and 6
- Netscape 4.7, 6 and 7
Please note, it is our standard policy that while basic functionality should work as browser’s upgrade, full support will be validated within 90 days after the new browser release.
AOL Users
Due to complexities between AOL and the security level of the Marquis applications, you will need to open our site
via Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) or Netscape browsers. Below are detailed instructions to ensure all features of the Marquis Who's Who website are completely functional.
Internet Explorer
- Log on to AOL
- Minimize your AOL welcome screen
- Locate the "Start" button on the lower left hand side of the screen
- Click the "Start" button to open the selection menu
- Scroll to "Programs" -- another menu of selections will appear
- Click on "Internet Explorer"
- The Internet Explorer Window should open
- Input the web address http://search.marquiswhoswho.com and hit enter. For future use, be sure to save this address to your "Favorites" folder
Note: Windows users may find an "e" next to the start button and/or on their computer desktop screen.
Clicking this "e" will easily launch Internet Explorer.

Netscape
- Log on to AOL
- Minimize your AOL welcome screen
- Locate the "Start" button on the lower left hand side of the screen
- Click the "Start" button to open the selection menu
- Scroll to "Programs" -- another menu of selections will appear
- Click on "Netscape Communicator"
- The "Netscape Navigator" browser should open
- Input the web address http://search.marquiswhoswho.com and hit enter.

Note: This site supports IE 5.0 and Netscape 4.7 or higher. It is strongly suggested that users with lower
browser versions upgrade to a higher version. To check your browser version, start your browser (see above),
select Help, scroll to and select About. Examples are shown below:

Quick Reference Keys
- Use Ctrl F to find a word or category within the opened window
- Use Ctrl W or the “X” icon in the top right-hand corner to close the window
Instructions for the Download link using Internet Explorer:
The Download feature allows a user to easily export biographical data from the website to a spreadsheet. While the download feature works best with Microsoft Excel, a user can also export records via an asp file. Please see below for further information on exporting data using the Download link.
If Excel is installed --
1. After a successful search has been performed, select the biography(s) you wish to export.
2. Click the Download link. This link can be found on the right hand-side of the screen.
3. A pop-up window will appear.
4. The file can either be Opened or Saved.
5. If Open is selected, a spreadsheet will automatically launch.
6. If Save is selected, a Save window will open.
7. The user will be prompted to complete a Save In location, a File Name, and a Save Type. Once these fields are completed, click the Save button.
8. The file will be save to the directory specified and a Download Completed window will appear with the options to Open, Open Folder or Cancel.
*** Please note, steps will vary for Netscape users***
If Excel is NOT installed --
1. After a successful search has been performed, select the biography(s) you wish to export.
2. Click the Download link. This link can be found on the right hand-side of the screen.
3. A pop-up window will appear.
4. If Excel is not an installed program, a File Download pop up window will appear. Select “Save this file to disk” and click OK.
5. A “Save As” window will appear, complete the following fields:
a. Select a “Save In” Location
b. Select and type a name for the spreadsheet under “File Name”. The file extension .asp must be added after the file name.
c. Select “All Files” from the drop down menu under the Save Type field.
d. Click the Save button
6. A “Download Complete” window will open. Click the Open button.
7. An “Open With” pop up window will appear. Select Internet Explorer (iexplore) from the menu and click the OK button.
8. The selected biography(s) will open in a spreadsheet format.

Time Out Feature
Our site has a 10 minute automatic Time Out feature included. If you leave your session inactive, after 10 minutes, you will be asked to log in again.
If you mistakenly close your internet browser window (before choosing "Log Out"), you need only wait 10 minutes for your ID and password to be refreshed so you can log back in.
